The Winery

We work at our Cellar in Darmós. A building from 1906, which we have renovated, keeping its structure intact and its original machinery, and combining it with last generation technology and facilities.

This allows us to create a top quality wine within an intimate and welcoming environment. A place where all wine enthusiasts – as ourselves – can appreciate the region’s heritage, the fascination for the creation process using the most modern equipment, and ultimately, an environment that transpires admiration and respect for everything that surrounds the world of the wine.

The Wines

Our vines, which are 25 to 65 years old, have been selected and restored within the municipalities of Darmós and els Guiamets. They have the traditional Montsant varieties, Carignan, Gernache; as well as Monastrell, Tempranillo and Merlot.

Working with our own vines allows us to implement 100% ecologic methods, as well as controlling each process to ensure that the care and dedication put in each detail are maintained from the vines to the wine glass. Because that is the only way, with such dedication and absolute passion for our work, that we can ensure the quality and personality of which we are proud.

  • Production: Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks
  • Grape Varieties: Carignan, Gernache
  • Aging: 12 months in French oak barrels (225 l y 400 l)
  • Alcohol: 14% Vol.
  • Available formats: 75cl

Winemaking

Strict and meticulous selection of grapes in the vineyard. Manual harvesting in 15 kg boxes. Sorted by hand on the selection table. Subsequent gentle de-stemming. Fermentation in small stainless steel tanks. Extraction of phenolic compounds through pumping-over and "pigeage" (punching the cap) . Maceration as appropriate to the potential of each plot. Fermentation and maceration with the skins for 15-20 days.

AGEING

12 months in French oak barrels of 225 lts. and 400 lts.

Wine Profile

Blend of Carignan and Grenache, native varieties from our Pins Bens plantation, a site with a great personality.

Tasting Note

Intense and complex aroma, with sweet notes, red fruit and a floral touch, surrounded by nuances (balsamic, aromatic forest, candy and hides), with a mineral background given by the terroir. It becomes wide in the mouth, sugary and balances, with a tannin that is marked with a sweet touch, giving it structure and depth. Its subtle point of acidity brings it a long and persistent aftertaste of a sweet finish.

Recommendations

Due to its good ageing potential, decanting is recommended in order to enjoy its complexity. It will exhibit all of its positive traits during the next 10 years.

WINEMAKING

WINE PROFILE

Coupage of three autochthonous varietals grown in singular plots.

TASTING NOTE

2015 Vintage: Cherry-red colour with violet at the rim. Lots of red fruit on the nose; red fruit with floral and balsamic nuances, mineral touch surrounded by aromatic notes of forest (dry grass, rosemary, carob, peach).
In the mouth, it is smooth and elegant, with amplitude structured by fine tannin, which gives a sweet touch. The point of acidity gives freshness and lenght with a very persistent aftertaste.
2016 Vintage: Aromatically very intense and complex. It leaves notes of red fruits (currants and raspberries) surrounded by a menthol touch, and a mineral nuance given by the terroir. The palate is broad and soft, with a very fine tannin and a sweet touch; and the acidity point making it fresh and long-lasting with a very persistent sweet finish.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Due to its good ageing potential, decanting is recommended in order to enjoy its complexity. It will exhibit all of its positive traits during the next 5 years for 2015, and up to 10 years for 2016.
